The future of Benjamin Mendy at Manchester City is uncertain following an argument with Pep Guardiola.

Mendy is sidelined with a metatarsal injury and unavailable for Saturday's Premier League match against Brighton.

Guardiola has been annoyed by Mendy's behavior.

Sources have also said Guardiola was furious with Mendy on Sunday when the player reported three hours late for treatment at the training ground.

Asked about Mendy at his prematch news conference on Friday, Guardiola said: "Yes, he was late. I have spoken to him.

"They [the players] know that they have to be here on time."

Paul Pogba's agent will hold talks with Manchester United over his future in November.

Pogba has been at United since rejoining from Juventus for a then world-record fee of £89 million in 2016 and Mino Raiola wants to meet the club to establish whether they would be willing to let his client go in January or next summer. 

Raiola also wants to see whether Jose Mourinho will remain as manager of United in November.

United did not contemplate selling Pogba last summer when Barcelona made an offer of £45 million plus the players Yerry Mina and André Gomes.

Jose Mourinho has informed Paul Pogba he will not captain Manchester United again due to their strained relationship.

The news was delivered to Pogba and the rest of the players at United's Carrington training ground on Tuesday. Pogba criticized Mourinho for a lack of attacking football in United's 1-1 draw against Wolves.

Pogba caused controversy after the opening-day win over Leicester by suggesting he would be fined if he said what he wanted about his situation at United.

Pogba was open to a move away from United this past summer.

Mario Gotze has been advised to join Liverpool to revive his career.

Gotze returned to Borussia Dortmund from Bayern Munich in 2016 and has struggled with injuries and illnesses.

"Maybe it'll do him a world of good to leave Bundesliga in the winter, move abroad where it's all a bit quieter and where he knock his career into shape again," Kevin Grosskreutz told Sky.

"Jurgen Klopp knows him well. He'd be a good fit at Liverpool."

Ander Herrera prefers to remain with Manchester United despite interest from Barcelona.

Herrera's contract with United expires this summer.

Herrera is prepared to snub other offers to stay at the club he joined from Athletic Bilbao for £30 million in 2014.

Herrera played for current Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde at Athletic.

Paris Saint-Germain has reached out to Real Madrid as they've become "frustrated" by constant speculation about a potential move for Neymar.

Neymar moved to PSG from Barcelona for €222 million last summer.

"We don't like it at all and we have spoken to Real Madrid," Nasser Al-Khelaifi said.

"It's a bit frustrating, it's not fair that other clubs talk about our players. We have a good relationship and they respect PSG, and I hope that's the truth. We respect Real Madrid, their president, Florentino Perez, but I think that it's important for everyone not to work behind the scenes.

"I don't know if he understands me. If there is something, we speak, speak with Florentino Perez or whatever it is and we speak about what we like and what we don't like. It's what we want with all clubs, not just Real Madrid. Fighting amongst each other is not the way PSG works and I hope other clubs don't do that to us."

Pep Guardiola insists Kevin de Bruyne doesn't have a release clause in his contract but says he wouldn't be for sale anyways.

De Bruyne signed a new contract in January that keeps him with Manchester City until 2023.

"I don't know what his release clause is," he told a news conference. "The journalist asked if we'd sell for €250 million and I said no. But it's my personal opinion. In England there are no release clauses, you have to negotiate for the club."

Real Madrid have €372 million ($432 million) available, "€190 million plus credit of €182 million at a highly competitive variable rate of interest," according to the treasurer's report.

Real Madrid could have interest in Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Manchester United and Paul Pogba have paused discussions on a long-term contract extension.

Pogba is two years into the five-year deal he signed when he returned from Juventus in 2016.

United had hoped to hold preliminary negotiations with Pogba and agent Mino Raiola in September.

While Pogba won't push for a move in January, he could be tempted by Barcelona next summer. United remains confident of their odds of signing Pogba to an extension.
